Rescue Pet Wednesday: 7/1/2015

Squawk! My name is Sadie...

Hi, everyone! Welcome to Rescue Pet Wednesday, where I highlight adoptable rescue pets from around the country every week. If you're looking for a pet you should think about adopting one from a shelter who desperately needs a good home. You can also donate to non-profit shelters to help them continue their selfless work.

The parrot in the picture above is Sadie, a 15 year old Poicephalus/Senegal. Her caregiver passed away and she has been living alone in a vacant house for about a year, only seeing people when she was fed by her owners family. She's currently being fostered by a volunteer at the Parrots First animal rescue in Los Angeles, California. She's very fun and interactive and loves to receive tons of attention from people.

If you are interested in adopting Sadie please contact Parrots First by email or call them at (866)712-8899. You can also donate or learn more about their organization at their website.

Meet Cookie...

This is Cookie, a petite female Pit Bull Terrier. She is house-trained, spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations. Cookie is a sweet and wonderful girl who is looking for a loving, cat-free home. She's currently staying at the Love-A-Bull rescue in Austin, Texas.

If you are interested in adopting Cookie please send an email or fill out an application online. You can also visit the Love-A-Bull website to donate or learn more about their mission of helping Pit Bulls through education and rescue work.

Hi! My name is Jolie...

This adorable little kitty is Jolie, an 8 week old black domestic short-hair female. Jolie is happy, energetic, and VERY playful. She should fit in perfectly with any active household. Jolie would love to be adopted with her sibling Cat Pitt but can also be adopted on her own if you don't want to take on two cats at once. Jolie is currently at the Last Chance Animal Rescue in Waldorf, Maryland.

If you want to adopt Jolie, or any of the other pets at Last Chance who are looking for good homes, you can send an email. You can also donate to Last Chance Animal Rescue on their website.

Thanks for reading! If you want to find a rescue pet in your area Petfinder is a great resource. You can also do your part to help rescue animals by donating to no-kill and non-profit rescue groups or volunteering at a shelter or as a foster home.
