Photo Of The Week: A boat in the Netherlands |
I'm here once again to round up all the awesomeness from the week! Enjoy your weekends everyone!
True love's kiss |
Monday was International Kissing Day, a holiday that everyone should enjoy! As you probably know by now, my boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship right now, which can be hard at times. We can still share kisses in our hearts and dreams though, even when we can't see each other in person.
Strawberry sundaes |
Tuesday was National Strawberry Sundae Day, a day which celebrates that delicious summer treat consisting of ice cream and sweet, fresh strawberries. Yum! If you want to try your hand at making your very own strawberry sundae here's a recipe.
A little sprinkle of sugar... |
Staying in the theme of delicious summer treats, Thursday was National Sugar Cookie Day. Sugar cookies are usually made from a simple dough consisting of flour, sugar, butter, eggs, and baking powder. They're fun and easy to make and are a perfect gift for your loved ones and a wonderful treat for yourself! If you want to whip up some of your very own sugar cookies here's a really adorable recipe.
All around the world |
Today is World Population Day, a holiday created by the United Nations to raise awareness for family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health, and human rights. Unfortunately, the ability to use contraception if desired remains out of the reach of millions of men, women, and young adults and women, babies, and children are still dying from preventable and treatable diseases.
It may be hard to change the entire world but you can make a difference in your own community. Consider volunteering at a soup kitchen, donating money to a local charity, or trying to raise awareness of the problems which people are facing around the world. As the great Mahatma Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world".
